Quote: "Much better tracking of patient information than paper charts.
Greatly improved screening, preventive health, and risk calculation – which allows for individualized risk factor management in patients.
For patients, secure and private online access to their medical information. I should be able to post lab results, x-rays – basically, anything – in a way that patients can access it at their convenience.
Communication with patients via email and maybe even instant messaging. "

WOW. I'm really impressed. Even if things do not get to this stage, I'm impressed with the commitment to patients and people I'm seeing here. I remember going to Dalton Medical and meeting Dr. Schamess a few years ago and I remember being totally shocked that he offered Saturday hours for people who might not be able to schedule time with him during the week. I also remember Dalton Medical vehemently declining to schedule me for a visit on a Saturday- but it was ok because even though I couldn't schedule it, I liked the fact that Dr. Schamess was willing enough to see people on the weekend when others may not have been as willing to make the time. :)

Just wanted to share that and wanted to say I was pleasantly surprised to read how up to date my Doctor and his office is becoming!

Re: the paperless office. Have you contemplated Gerry, for example, being asked to enter his medical history in a form of some sort on a computer, or access his medical information online? Not that he will be your patient, but just imagine him trying to do it! I hope you will provide consultation in electronic medical usage for those folks who might need it! Seriously, we are pleased that things are moving along. We’ll probably be in Bulgaria and Israel in Oct. and part of November, but I would love to come help out in the office a couple of mornings a week when we return, if there is anything you think I’d be able to do. I’d be happy to do whatever, from help with answering phones to cleaning the bathrooms.
